History
VSR-93 (“Verticalka”) camouflage was widely used by Russian Interior Ministry and some army units during the First and Second Chechen Wars (1994–1996, 1999–2009). Featuring vertical green stripes on a lighter background, it was designed for forested terrain but proved only moderately effective in Chechnya’s mixed urban, mountain, and woodland environments. Despite its limitations, VSR-93 became an iconic visual symbol of Russian forces in the Chechen conflicts.
