This is a bushy, upright shrub with large mid-green leaves and narrow goblet-shaped, fragrant purple-red flowers in mid-spring. Best in sun or partial shade in a moist yet well drained soil.

• When planting this shrub in the open ground it is best planted with a mixture of your garden soil and a good quality Tree and Shrub Compost. If suitable for containers then we recommend John Innes No3 Compost or a good quality Multipurpose compost. These plants should be fed in Spring and late Summer with a good quality granular fertiliser.
