Rarely do we come across such finely preserved original examples of bakelite picture frames such as this small 'Priory' model produced by NB Ware in England, circa 1940's. 

Featuring its original branded backing paper, lightly yellowed with age but otherwise immaculate, and very simple bakelite moulding mounted to a matching bakelite back that clips into place. The genius in this design comes from the standing mechanism, a sturdy bent brass 'pin' that can be pinched to remove and swap into both landscape and portrait orientation. A very high quality piece of design that displays well; certainly discreet but a fascinating example of wartime innovation.
