This S-500 has an Alder body with a maple fingerboard and features G&L Johnny's Custom MFD S-500 single coil pickups. It also features the DF vibrato, Modern Classic neck profile and a mini toggle expander circuit. This one is in beautiful condition and ready for you to enjoy, it will have the original Certificate of Authenticity and ship with the bag/case as pictured in the listing.

When G&L closed its doors in October 2025, MIRC obtained the remaining inventory.  This instrument is one of the final production models to come off the G&L line in Fullerton, California.  

The G&L CLF Research S-500 blends styling from Leo Fender's original CLF lab with enhanced modern performance and an unparalleled tonal range. This model features a classic-contoured alder body in a Cherryburst finish with a 3-ply black pickguard, perfectly complemented by a smooth maple fingerboard on a 25.5-inch scale neck. Its incredible versatility comes from a trio of modified G&L Magnetic Field Design single-coil pickups. These unique pickups deliver a bright, highly articulate top-end and a focused bottom-end, offering a broader, more sophisticated sound than traditional single-coils. The electronics are equally innovative, featuring the exclusive PTB (Passive Treble and Bass) system, which allows for surgical precision by letting the player separately cut high and low frequencies on all three pickups, while a mini-toggle Expander Switch unlocks extra pickup combinations for unique, full-bodied voices. Hardware is anchored by Leo's innovative Dual-Fulcrum vibrato, ensuring silky-smooth pitch modulation with rock-solid tuning stability, making the S-500 ready for any modern stage or studio session.
