The Arcteryx Atom Vest provides core warmth and can be worn either as a mid or outer layer depending on the conditions and activity. When used as an outerlayer and the weather takes a turn for the worst then a shell jacket over the top will be a perfect, albeit a very warm combination.

The Atom Vest uses Coreloft Compact 60 insulation, a lightweight synthetic insulation that is very compressible and light but expands very quickly when unpacked. Coreloft is made up of thicker fibres than other leading insulation brands, which means it will not penetrate the outer Tyono 20 nylon fabric. This is lightweight and benefits from a DWR treatment that provides good water repellency and wind resistance. The lining is made from a lightweight and air permeable dope dyed fabric, which requires far fewer resources than regular dying techniques. The side panels are Performance stretch fleece that provides this vest with exceptional levels of breathability and mobility, but if it gets really cold or you slow down or stop it will be these areas where you will feel the cold first. The Fitted Fit is patterned to stay close to the body through the chest, waist, hip, and thigh. Its low profile eliminates bulk, moves with the body, and fits comfortably over our first layers.
