The serene swishing sound that switch grass produces when it blows in the wind is the source of its name. This grass is incredibly resilient and will hold up throughout the winter unless there is a lot of snowfall. For birds, this offers crucial cover on the coldest winter days. In terms of design, this grass is quite versatile; it works well as a specimen, in huge quantities, for screening, next to ponds or streams, or inside of big containers.
