This delicate pair of vintage Berber earrings were worn by Kabyle Algerian women and known locally as mecherfa. They were made in the early twentieth century and were worn through the earholes and threaded to close them. If you intend to wear them, please understand that the ends are thick and need a bigger earlobe hole than is standard.
The earrings are hoops with a molded bottom part. There are saw-teeth decorating both the top and bottom parts of the hoop. The saw teeth have faux granulation, some of which are worn with age.
The earrings test as silver and have a mark of some sort that is not decipherable. They are in good vintage condition.
