The Victron Centaur 24/30 is a three-output mains-powered battery charger designed for professional and commercial applications where multiple battery banks need to be charged simultaneously. It accepts a wide input voltage range of 120 to 240V AC, making it suitable for use across the UK, Europe and North America. It is well suited to marine, vehicle, off-grid and industrial installations where reliable, automatic battery charging is required.
The Centaur charger uses an adaptive charging algorithm that automatically adjusts the absorption time based on the previous charge cycle. If a battery was heavily discharged, the charger extends the absorption phase accordingly. If the battery was only lightly used, absorption is shortened to reduce gassing and heat. This approach extends battery service life compared to fixed-time chargers.
The three-output design allows the charger to maintain a main service battery bank while simultaneously keeping one or two auxiliary banks topped up. Each output is independently managed, so the charger can deliver full current to a depleted bank while maintaining float on a bank that is already charged. This is particularly useful on vessels or vehicles where starter, service and bow thruster batteries must all be kept in good condition.
The 120 to 240V AC input range means the unit operates correctly whether connected to a UK 230V supply, a European 220V supply or a North American 120V shore power connection. No manual voltage selection is required.

Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician. The unit must be connected to a correctly fused and earthed AC supply. Ensure the battery bank voltage matches the 24V output before connecting. Adequate ventilation around the unit is required to prevent heat build-up during extended charge cycles. For marine installations, follow the relevant BMEA or IEC wiring standards. Do not install in locations exposed to direct water ingress.
