Based in Melbourne, Dr Loris Button is a Contemporary printmaker and artist whose practice stretches across multiple disciplines. Button often draws on imagery that she has gathered through travelling overseas, and throughout her practice her visual language investigates the relationship that we have with time, place, culture and memory.

Button’s ‘A Travelling Tale from Rajasthan & Gelderland’ is a series of 5 unique state prints that delineate the artist’s work and travel overseas. Created during a residency in the Netherlands in 2014 and referencing her travels to India, Button merges visual motifs from both Dutch and Indian cultures. In this work, the recurring presence of the hand is representative of the artist herself, a visual symbol that appears within many of her works.

Dr. Loris Button’s works are held across many institutions both in Australia and internationally, including the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of Ballarat, and the Hanji Development Institute in Korea.
