Alongside art, cooking was one of John Olsen’s great pleasures. It came to him as a young adult when he first left Australia for Europe. Despite being unable to cook an egg, he ended up getting work as an apprentice chef in Portugal and Spain, sparking a lifelong passion. Cooking became one of the arteries of his life, finding its way into his art.
