The oldest Balvenie peated expression to date! This 20 year old limited edition whisky was crafted from peated spirit distilled during he Balvenie’s annual Week of Peat. This distinctive 20-year-old single malt began as peated spirit - made during The Balvenie’s annual Week of Peat - and matured in American oak before a long, flavour-deepening finish in European oak sherry butts. The result is a whisky of bold contrast: sweet and smouldering, with toasted malt, glowing embers and a warm honeyed finish.

Bottled at 47.7% abv as part of the Curious Casks Collection showcasing casks with rare potential. This whisky is shaped by smoke, softened by sweetness, and finished with craft.

This is a story that begins with fire. Once a year, The Balvenie’s stills run with peated malt, creating a small batch of smoky spirit - a tradition born from curiosity and preserved through craft. Known as the Week of Peat, it offers a fleeting chance to shape a Balvenie unlike any other.

The 20-Year-Old Peated Sherry Cask Finish takes that rare peated spirit and matures it slowly - first in American oak, then in European oak sherry butts for an extended finish. Time in these seasoned casks softens the smoke, deepens the sweetness, and brings about a rich tapestry of flavour: toasted marshmallow, dried fruit, warm honey and the soft echo of glowing embers.

In Warehouse 24, this cask lay patiently, evolving. For Kelsey McKechnie, it was a whisky worth waiting for. With a Master’s in Distilling and a natural instinct for flavour, Kelsey recognised its potential - a harmony between peat and sherry, tradition and innovation. The whisky doesn’t shout; it smoulders, revealing its complexity sip by sip.
