A burl is a rare and unique growth found on the side of a tree. As it matures, its dense and irregular cell structure transforms the burl wood with its distinct and intricate grain pattern. Very much like an uncut diamond, we turn and sand each burl to unveil a truly spectacular and one of a kind piece that will be cherished for generations.

We buried this burl in the ground under wood shavings to age and darken.  Once aged to our satisfaction, we turn, dry, sand and finish the burl over the course of a month.
