With a Janka hardness rating of ~950 lbf, Cherry strikes an ideal balance between workability and durability; it planes and machines effortlessly, sands to a silky smooth surface, and finishes evenly at any thickness. With 8/4 cherry you have the depth to build solid, substantial pieces that will last generations.

This 8/4 stock is surfaced 2 sides (S2S) to 1-7/8" and responds beautifully to both hand and power tools. Oil finishes that enhance the natural warmth and accelerate the patina process are particularly well suited to Cherry.
