Moonstone is an enchanting birthstone. It’s often given as a gift in celebration of a thirteenth marriage anniversary. It was used by the Romans in jewellery and believed that it was formed from the light of the moon. It was also once called the “traveller’s stone”, moonstone was used for protection against the dangers of travel. Moonstone is also said to reconcile estranged lovers and to cure sleeplessness.

Moonstone is a dreamy and radiant birthstone. It has a crystal structure that shimmers as light rays are refracted and scatter within the gem. The effect is called adularescence, it’s as if the light dances inside of it. The more this stone shimmers, the more valuable it is. Rare deep blue moonstones are the highest quality and it reflects its namesake’s ethereal reputation.

It is a commanding gem that is most associated with growth, strength and new beginnings. It is a piece of eccentricity, a balancer of energy and is a personal, meaningful gift for loved ones or for yourself.
